Why high heals on ice?

Question by George McCasland – Dads Rights: Why high heals on ice?
Okay, I know I’m an old fart male, so I’m not suppose to know the why about some things in life, nature, and society, but as a cab driver, I see so many women wearing high heals when they know it’s going to be hard walking in regular shoes. It’s icy here in Kansas City, ice everywhere, yet I see young woman (and some old) wearing these impossible shoes while trying to negotiate a sidewalk covered in ice. Isn’t not getting your neck, or ankle, broke more important than appearance?

I will say that I did have two female customers who were going home from a bar. They were just a little drunk. They did fine in their high heals, getting across the ice, and to the cab. Once home, the entered the house through the garage, so they had to get across the ice to the garage door and get it open. It was not until they stepped onto the dry floor of the garage before they slipped and fell. They were not hurt, except perhaps their pride, and the bruises on their bums the next morning.

It’s just stupidity. If you really wanna wear heals that bad you should put them in a small bag and then change when you arrive wherever you are going.

I’m not proposing an actual solution but please consider this question yourself. When you are about to step onto a slippery surface what do you do instinctually? If you answered “tip-toe” or raise your heels then that may mean it is not entirely crazy or stupid.

Walking in high heels does not allow you to place all your weight on the heel. While this looks like an unbalanced position it is not. When you watch wreslers/boxers moving around the best point of balance is to raise you heel. When the fell after they got off the ice it is most likely that thy didn’t percieve the wet floor to be slipery either and anyone in any type of shoes can fall on a wet floor if you don’t consider it slppery and raise your heels.

The heel is considered to be like an ice pick, it digs into the ice creating an anchor so the user does not fall. They also look nice

LMAO! I can tell you, the combination of high heels, ice, and alchohol is just taunting dear Murphy…And is shows that God/Fate/etc. has a sense of humor if they fell on thier tushes after hitting dry ground…
…but, heels on ice is something that many of us risk to…look better. It is society and social norms…..beauty is cherished above saftey or common sense, ne?
